Welcome to GaiGene
This site sells original items for collectibles and/or fun use. The site name is a play on Japanese words:
English-Friendly: GaiJin,
Phonetic: Guy-jean
Kanji: 外人,
Hiragana: がいじん,
Katakana: ガイジン
Meaning: Outside Person or foreigner. The more "polite" saying is "Gaikokujin", but is shorten to slang "Gai-Jin". Like most slang, "GaiJin" can be used in a casual or mildly rude tone depending upon context.
Mission View: So as the name implies, we represent outside or foreigner perspective to words or items. It may not be grammatically correct, but it was meant to have fun with the language. No offense is intended.
Initially we focused on Japanese words that have American sounding words at the end (e.g. wasa-Bee). In the future we'll add items that have American sounding words containing Japanese ending words (e.g. don-ki [donkey], Ki-energy type collectible?) and we'll introduce new Japanese words by purposely mis-interpreting their sounds and mixing the meanings like a foreigner might (Nan-ji? Mo-mi-ji?! = What time is it? Maple leaf time?!).
Future: This can further be applied to other languages/cultures (mandarin, spanish, ...). For example:
Mandarin-American Pun (Mandamerican, AmeriMandarin), Spanish American (Spanamerican, AmeriSpanish),...
Mission: Our mission is to reduce bad karma debt by creating simple good value fun items from an outside perspective. We're not out to get rich but to avoid debt. Need enough to cover operating costs anything more we'll happily donate. Donation will be documented in the future if we last that long.
Marketing
Looking to reach out to Asian Niche gift stores if they are willing to partner or sell these items since owning a brick/mortar store is not feasible.
Logo: The logo shows a “satisfied”, yet visually impaired (lacking insight) or carefree expression. A "mister magoo" without his glasses may be the best analogy. It reflects a naive perspective not meant to offend in any way yet is guided by destiny. It's created with 2 letter G's from the word GaiGene and then flipped and merged.

Site/Owner

My name is Gene and I'm third generation American Japanese. Japanese see me as a foreigner or GaiJin. When I go to Japan, I look the part but don't play it and inadvertently offend my cousins. So embracing this I reworded GaiJin to GaiGene to include my name.
After being laid off recently, I decided it was time to retire. I started tinkering with 3D printing and realized I should treat it like a small home business so I can track expenses and write things off if it doesn't turn a small profit after a year. I’m committed to keeping expenses low while maintaining solid product quality. If you spot any low‑cost improvements or ideas, I’d love to hear from you at info@gaigene.com. Thank you for your support.
